Fulda-Radweg R1 Etappe 5

Stage 1

Rund 700 Fachwerkhäuser bilden in Hann. Fulda Cycle Route R1 Stage 5 - Hann. Münden to Bad Karlshafen

Bahnhof Hann. Münden → Bad Karlshafen

Stage 1

Around 700 half-timbered houses form a unique backdrop in Hann Münden. The historic town hall is one of the most important buildings of the Weser Renaissance. From here, the route continues along the Weser, following the meanders of the river. Another popular destination is the miniature open-air exhibition "Der Mühlenplatz" (The Mill Square) in Gieselwerder, with lovely replicas of various buildings in the Weser region. Finally, you reach the baroque Huguenot town of Bad Karlshafen, which stands in contrast to the rest of the Weser Renaissance. The Weser Therme invites you to a relaxing visit, where you can end the day in a cosy atmosphere.

Fulda Bike Trail R1****

Stage 1

Cycling along one of Germany’s most beautiful and unspoiled regions. Discover the Fulda Valley by bike. Experience history along the Fulda, which has been preserved in its original state. Enjoy an active holiday in North Hesse! The Fulda Cycle Route**** runs for 255 kilometres from the source of the Fulda on the 950-metre-high Wasserkuppe in the Rhön to the Weser Valley near Bad Karlshafen. Passing the Three Rivers Town of Hann. Münden, where "Fulda and Werra kiss and must part with their names." Around 130 km of the Fulda Cycle Route takes you through the Grimm Homeland of North Hesse. Romantic half-timbered towns such as Bad Hersfeld, Rotenburg an der Fulda, Melsungen and the documenta city of Kassel line the Fulda and invite you to stop off. Although it is a river cycle route, the R1 does include some gentle hills. The flattest sections are Gersfeld – Fulda and Kassel – Hann. Münden. 85% of the route is paved; the remaining stretch leads over mostly well-ridable gravel paths. In parts, the route runs through village roads with little to moderate traffic; otherwise, the route is almost completely car-free. Target group: Families, leisure cyclists and anyone who feels like cycling. Difficulty: A well-developed route that is suitable for everyone. Only on the first stage does the descent present an increased level of difficulty.
