Budapest
138 places to stay. A night costs from about 50 €.
Andrássy Avenue runs for about 2.3 kilometres from the city centre to Heroes' Square and its 36-metre Millennium Monument. At Andrássy Avenue 60, the House of Terror commemorates the victims of the 20th-century dictatorships. In the rock beneath Castle Hill, a museum shows a former hospital and nuclear bunker.
In the north of the city lies Aquincum, with the remains of a Roman town and an archaeological museum. About 30 kilometres northeast, in Gödöllő, stands the palace that Empress Elisabeth used as a residence.
