Korčula is the port town on the east coast of the island of the same name in southern Dalmatia. St. Mark's Cathedral stands on raised ground in the town centre. It was a bishop's church until the Diocese of Korčula was merged into the Diocese of Dubrovnik in 1828.

The Moreška is the town's traditional sword dance: two groups of dancers stage a mock battle over a veiled young woman. Once performed only on special occasions, it is now performed regularly for visitors.

The island of Badija is about 20 minutes by boat from the harbour. Franciscan friars founded a friary there in 1398 that still stands; the uninhabited island is home to roe deer and red deer that are used to people. A lighthouse stands on the small island of Sestrica Vela off the town.
