231 places to stay. A night costs from about 61 €.
In the Retiro stands the Palacio de Cristal, an iron-and-glass building from 1887. A tropical garden now grows in the old station hall at Atocha. The National Archaeological Museum was founded in 1867 and shows archaeological finds from Spain.
Next to the Plaza Mayor is the Mercado de San Miguel, a market hall with an iron structure. The Basilica of San Francisco el Grande was built in the 18th century. Since the early 19th century, the Palacio de Liria has been the residence of the Dukes of Alba.
