The Baltic Sea spa resort of Zingst lies on the peninsula of the same name, the eastern part of Fischland-Darß-Zingst between Rostock and Stralsund. The peninsula is almost 20 kilometres long and two to four kilometres wide. The Baltic Sea lies to the north, a lagoon to the south. Zingst was an island until 1874.

The pier is 270 metres long, and since 2013 a diving gondola at its end has taken visitors three metres below the surface. The neo-Gothic Church of St Peter and St Paul was built from 1860 to 1862. The local history museum is housed in a captain's house from 1867. At the Max-Hünten-Haus, students of a photography school show their work in changing exhibitions.

The east of the peninsula, with the Sundische Wiese meadows, belongs to the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park. From mid-August, cranes from Scandinavia and northern Russia rest east of the peninsula, with several tens of thousands between mid and late October. At Pramort, the eastern tip, there is an observation point.
