The Jesuit church of St. Michael on Neuhauser Straße was built between 1583 and 1597. On Odeonsplatz stand the Feldherrnhalle and the yellow Theatinerkirche, and on Leopoldstraße the Siegestor victory gate.
In the Kunstareal in Maxvorstadt are the Alte Pinakothek, opened in 1836, and the Pinakothek der Moderne from 2002. In the north stand the Olympic Tower in the Olympiapark, BMW Welt and the BMW Museum. Oktoberfest has been held on the Theresienwiese since 1810.
